Our Staff and Board... MEET THE HANDS OF GRACE STAFF
Cheryl Witt, Executive Director. Cheryl has been married to her husband Chris for 20 years. Their daughters, Chelsea and Caitlyn, are Freshman living at the University of Toledo. Cheryl enjoys long walks in the area Metroparks, riding bikes, scrapbooking and spending time with her family. Cheryl’s passion is the elderly and disabled and making sure that their needs are met and that they are treated fairly and with love. She considers it an honor to be a part of the Hands of Grace Ministry and to work with all the great volunteers and staff.
Bonita Jackson, Office Assistant. Bonita was born and raised in Pennsylvania, inner city of Allentown, just North of Philadelphia. She moved here 10 years ago and lives in the country with her husband, Carl. She loves the flat land of Ohio because you can see so much more sky than she was used to seeing in Allentown. Together, Bonita and Carl, have 7 children and 16 grandchildren (all long distance). Before moving to Ohio, she assisted in the care of a friend’s mother who had Alzheimer’s as well as cared for a 92 year old neighbor for several months. Bonita finds great joy in meeting the needs of the older generation. She started out with Hands of Grace as a Volunteer 8 years ago and was hired to work in the Office when a position became available. Matching a care-receiver with a volunteer that fosters a lasting relationship is a great enjoyment to Bonita. Bonita also enjoys reading and talking with her grandchildren on the telephone. She loves country living and enjoys gardening in her spare time.
Carol Martin, RN Adult Day Center Coordinator. Carol Martin has been associated with Hands of Grace since the beginning; first, as a care-receiver and for the past ten years as a Staff Member. She has been married to her husband, Al, for 31 years and they have one grown son, Josh. Carol grew up in a small town Southwest of Dayton and attended Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing, Wright State University and Sinclair College. Carol became a Registered Nurse (R.N.) in 1970 and has worked in doctor’s offices and nursing homes before settling in with Hands of Grace. In her spare time, Carol enjoys her many hobbies, such as: gardening, antiquing, crocheting, reading and cross stitch. She also has done a lot of traveling, some of which was with the Boy Scouts that she and her husband are involved with. Carol is a member of Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church. Carol’s compassion, love and wonderful sense of humor make her a perfect fit at the Adult Day Centers.
Kathy Thomas, Adult Day Center Assistant. Kathy Thomas (Tuggle) is a new Staff Member at Hands of Grace. She is enthusiastic and excited about her position at the Adult Day Centers. Kathy grew up in rural Delta. Kathy has five children ages 12-28 and she has home-schooled all of them at one time or another. She is also the proud Grandma to four grandchildren. Kathy received her diploma from Evergreen High School and graduated from Four County, where she studied Commercial Art. She received her diploma and certification from Med 1 Care in the Nurses Aid Course, where she became a State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA). Her favorite hobby besides reading and field trips with her children, is reenacting. She is a living historian, specifically of famous native American Women and she performs educational programs. Kathy has a creative side that comes out when she does face painting at reenactment events.
Brad Chapman,
HAV Driver. After 33 years with Ford Motor Company, Brad was
surprised to find himself retired at the tender age of 52.So far life
has been kind to him. Brad says that, “I can still run faster and jump
higher than my grandson (4 yrs. old). We'll have to see how long that
will last.”
